Environmental Mission

At Monty Bojangles, we're committed to crafting extraordinary confectionery and doing our best to reduce our footprint. From packaging and energy use to ethical sourcing and food waste, we’re making meaningful changes to protect people and the planet - without compromising on flavour or fun.

We’re on a mission to reduce the environmental impact of our packaging without compromising the quality of our award-winning truffles.

Our Commitment to Sustainable Packaging

Our truffle packaging, including individual flow wraps and printed bags, is recyclable at larger supermarket collection points. It keeps our truffles fresh while extending shelf life.

We’ve been working to reduce - and where possible eliminate - plastic across our range. For example, our 2025 Easter eggs came in fully recyclable tins that looked as good as they were sustainable.

Where plastic is unavoidable, we keep it recyclable and free of colours that hinder recycling.

Our core box designs are compact to reduce packaging waste and optimise space in transport, cutting down fuel usage.

We’ve significantly reduced metallic card across our products to improve recyclability.

All carton packaging is made from sustainably sourced materials.

Cocoa-dusted truffles are imported in large palletainers, cutting cardboard waste and boosting lorry efficiency.

Our Christmas rPET packaging now contains 70% recycled content, including all advent calendars.

We’re proud of the progress so far - and we’re just getting started.

Energy Use & The Environment

Our head office runs entirely on 100% renewable energy (with a little help from truffles, of course). We’ve offset all direct Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions for our head office using tools from CarbonFootprint.com. Our funding supports a range of global carbon reduction projects, including renewable energy generation and carbon avoidance initiatives. Many of these projects are based in developing countries, where they also deliver positive social impact alongside environmental benefits.

Ethical Sourcing

We’re committed to sourcing ingredients responsibly. The palm oil used in our truffles is RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certified, which means it comes from plantations that avoid clearing valuable forests. You can follow our progress on the RSPO website: rspo.org/members/6614.

We also work closely with the Rainforest Alliance to ensure more of our ingredients are grown using ethical and sustainable farming practices. Our chocolate bar range is fully Rainforest Alliance Certified, and you’ll see their frog seal proudly displayed on our
packaging. This certification supports better working conditions, protects human rights, and promotes environmentally friendly farming methods that help preserve biodiversity and tackle the climate crisis. Learn more at rainforest-alliance.org.

Our Vegan range continues to grow, now including a variety of flavours and gifts such as our Vegan Advent Calendar, Truffle Gift Tower, and Truffle Gift Boxes - all approved and registered by The Vegan Society.

Food Waste & Modern Slavery

We take food waste seriously and work hard to prevent it. Our planning team carefully manages production to avoid surplus, and wherever possible, we donate excess stock to local charities - ensuring our truffles are enjoyed, not wasted.

We’re equally committed to upholding human rights across our business and supply chains. All Monty Bojangles employees receive training to help identify and understand the signs of modern slavery.

In 2025, we're strengthening our approach further by working closely with our supply partners in the UK and Europe. We're enhancing our risk-based supplier management system to provide greater transparency around responsible sourcing - specifically focusing on how modern slavery and human trafficking risks are identified and addressed. This is part of our ongoing commitment to ethical compliance and responsible business practices.
